Recommended Materials for SD V3
Body, reticle frame and chamber covers: PETG — matte black for indoor and daytime use. Translucent PETG for low light and night conditions.
Eyepiece ring: Translucent PETG for active illumination — the COB LED color shows through clearly. Colored PETG or PLA to match your chosen illumination color (green, orange or pink) — when illumination is off the ring color serves as a passive visual reference.
Sun shade: TPU — flexible and light enough to fit snugly and absorb impact without cracking.
V3 Nest retainers: TPU — keeps all components securely in place inside the Nest.
V3 Nest: PLA is acceptable unless the Nest will be exposed to heat. PLA softens at 40°C (104°F) — well within the temperature a closed car can reach in direct sunlight. For storage in hot environments use PETG instead.
For field and hunting use: More technically demanding materials are available — carbon fiber reinforced filaments, high-temperature PETG, and UV resistant variants are all worth exploring for outdoor conditions beyond the range.
Finish: Use fuzzy skin surface on the body for a professional matte texture.
